As soon as New Year approaches,  people start making their resolutions, and one of the most common resolutions is that people aim for a better career and a better lifestyle. Let’s talk about some best  resolutions for graphic designers that ponder on their career growth and personal growth as well.

1. Staying Focused- Eyes on the Prize

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to stay focused. Many people are determined and work along the way to achieve their goals, but they definitely lack focus, they forget that they are in the race and they have to make sure they win it. You must prioritise your orders from highly important delivery to the least important and work on them one by one. This way, you will be more focused and you will be able to deliver high-quality creative designs.

2. I will be more organized- No more scattered  thoughts and plans

As a graphic designer, it is important for you to stay organized, and keep all the important files in respective folders and files. It saves time and you can get through all the work. This not only applies to your design work but also to your personal growth and grooming, you must organize your thoughts, and time. Also, being organized as a designer brings more dedication to your work.

3. I will not cheat or plagiarise other’s talent

This new year, make a resolution that you will not copy, cheat or duplicate someone else’s talents. Make a resolution to become your own creative master and work on your designs so that no one else can. Even if you don’t have any mental energy to work on the design,  start small,  make a list of things that you have to do, and then start working on another project. Please get back to it when you have enough ideas to work through that design.

4. I will maintain a healthy and fit body

Since graphic designers or freelancers work sitting at the desk most of the time, this year make a plan to stay physically fit. This can be done by walking daily, starting a gym membership,  eating healthy, and exercising at home. Never forget that it’s you who always matters, if you’re not fit, you won’t make it through your projects, so always prioritize yourself and your health.

5. I will set higher aims- Let’s get rid of the comfort zone

Those who stood out of the crowd never stayed in their comfort zone. One thing is for sure, to achieve high, you have to aim high. Remember that one saying? “Sky is not the limit, your mind is.” So this year, make a resolution that you’ll take all those challenges you thought you were incapable of. Utilize these opportunities to build an impressive portfolio and advertise yourself like no other.

6. I will work smart not hard

The world is advancing expeditiously and so should you. This year make a resolution to work smart because working hard is no more highly appreciated. Do not sell yourself short and never work too hard for the client who undervalues the skills and services you offer. Strive to become more efficient, develop analytical skills and enhance your communication skills.

7. I will acquire new skills and learn new things

The new year is a great time to start afresh and learn new skills. As New Year approaches, people are always motivated for a fresh start so it’s always a good idea to start learning something new and acquire new skills. Start reading an article daily, learn a new language, or work on any of your skills that need to be polished.

8. I will do something new something that scares me

Starting fresh and aligning it with something you thought you couldn’t do is a great way to grow and become more productive. This year decide on something that scares you, take a chance, and do it. The more you do such things, the more confident you will feel. You may be an excellent logo designer but never limit yourself to designing only logos, explore other areas of your skills and become a jack of all trades.

9. I will embrace my ideas and creativity

Always have a creative mind and think outside the box and embrace your ideas and creativity. You will be surprised by how much you can achieve. For example, this year if you are a web designer and you always think about web designs, make a website, and share your designs online with the world. You will be surprised to know how many people will like your work.

10. I will embrace my failures and won’t take criticism personally

Letting others tell you that you can’t do something is the worst thing you can do. Accepting failure and taking criticism is a big step toward success. If you let people tell you that you can’t do something, you will never be able to achieve your goals. Always believe in yourself and never take criticism personally. Just remember that it is just advice or an opinion and you can always choose to ignore it.
